My little brother, the survivor. He's my Brave Rifle. He's been through a whole lot of stuff. I'm just glad that he was injured so badly that he didn't go to Viet Nam, where he was headed when his knee blew out from under him. So many of our friends went and didn't come back, or came back so messed up. Everyone knows about Viet Nam. Nothing more needs to be said.
He's over 60 now and still has those dimples and sparkling star like eyes. We've been pals for a long, long time.
60 and dimples.....what could be cuter!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet to tribute your brother! Nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comments - and I'm glad you liked the BO as we affectionately call it. It went back home to it's rightful owner yesterday.
I am not a fast knitter, but I do knit for an hour or two almost every night and seem to get stuff done! I continually find it astounding that I actually finish things :-) And sometimes they fit!
Have a great week.
Yes to brother, yes to fitness, yes to family members knitting. I love reading your posts. They brighten up my day.
ReplyDeletebonnie, thanks for your comment, and those dimples are still very cute. My sister and I can't figure out why only Bro got the dimples AND the straight.perfect teeth. Maybe it was because he wouldn't let an orthodontist within 50 yards of him so the Gods were kind?
ReplyDeleteKnittinreed, you're welcome, and I do love that BO. Now to find someone who plays one in a recording so I can swoon away my afternoons (and knit). :-) To confess, I'm not a fast knitter either. It is taking more discipline than I can crank up lately just to get that hour a day in. It must be Spring! tra la!
Sarah-Hope, hi :-) Thank you for the nice comment. I'm glad that the inanity (oops I left out an S)sometimes practiced here is having a positive effect. Crying "off camera" is an Artform, I tell you! heehee
I was looking for an email so I could comment on the comment you left (you know the blogger-noreply thing you get only) This post is absolutely sweet as could be.. so sad this morning a para at the bus barn had just learned of her elderly brother (plus her mom is 90) had a massive heart attack..it was so sad. Then I go to your blog and read this tribute...so nice that you are pals. That is the best! What a great honor to your brother :)

ReplyDeleteOh PJ, that was sad news for your co-worker and her mother. Prayers for them to be comforted in their sorrow.
ReplyDeleteMy sister, brother and I are close sibs, having such a shall we say, common enemy in our Paternal Unit. So, we have ancient bonds from suffering through the days of the Spanish/French Inquisition, so to speak. teehee
Just so that it makes it easier to email me, I put the usual "broken one" in the Profile at the end. Thanks for enlightening me about it's being missing! =o\
