Thrilling Knitting Content, wowzer!

Well, it's knitting content anyway. And it's about time.

This is a spindle spun yarn that my friend Judy helped me to make one year. She brought the purples in the form of fuzzy stuff. And we went to The Black Sheep to get rovings, which she then taught me to dye in a pot of yummy smelling cherry and black cherry Jello (dye). Judy taught me to spin this stuff on the spindle she brought all the way from Australia. Judy, that luggage you had that year was where the term must have come from. Lugging that around must have built up your strength tremendously! Judy also lugged a wonderful pair of carders as a gift along with that neat spindle.

Anyway, this nicely balanced yarn( well I think it is, so no snickering)will now be made into a nano purselette, something it's been waiting to become from before nanos were even invented. Imagine the form vs function arguments this will cause!

  2. Hi Debby, you're welcome and thanks for you comments. Jello (I think they call it Jelly) was something that the weaver/spinners were experimenting with in Australia when Judy came over that year. Gosh I get all teary when I remember how thrilling it was to have her here.

Kool Aid is the next thing I'll eventually do, once things settle down and I dye more stuff. I used cake icing dye for the red and white stocking and it worked well. Someone used blue Wilton's to overdye a too light, uneven red and it came out a luscious violet with purple highlights.

Jello probably works in the crockpot, too, but we used a big pan on the stove - yummy smells that evening.
