Guardian of the Cape Honeysuckle

 

Little Brave Bird, a Costa's Hummingbird just getting his breeding feathers in. I'll catch him again in the full glory of his breeding plumage. He guards our garden from all - just about anything with wings. The Jays leave him alone if they know what's good for them. He is so quick that he can catch a fly from a sitting twig start. He's a champion!
