This is a baby golden mantled ground squirrel, or at least I think it's a golden mantle. It's very tiny and sweet and is eating apple peelings set out on the paver for the jays. The squirrel is renting a "room" in the tortoise den, and also seems to have a highway from there, under the lime tree, to a tunnel that leads to another garden. Ah, the Wild Life of Suburbia.
