The Tale of two Socks
The Maker Goddess was suffering a dreadful malady called Second Sock Syndrome. SSS... First sock was lonely, so lonely that she agreed to pose with manly red sock when all she really wanted was a mate of her own, a twin and kindred spirit who know what it was like to be blue all the time. The Maker Goddess was cruel and worked on many things unrelated to yarns or even to Threads, which are a mutant sort of yarn, in a manner of speaking.
Then along came Ravelympics. This was a challenge world wide for all Ravthetes to join into for the good and the glory of the side, the Team, the special few. Those who would pull out their UFO and go all the way with them to a finish line however many hurdles were in the way. Maker Goddess worked diligently on second sock, to the delight of first sock, who rode around on the shoulder of the Goddess to remind her of the length of this part, or of that curve, on first sock's own body.
Tonight the two socks, made for each other, met, and it was love at first sight. Many in the world of more animated creatures will understand the longings and the triumph of having finally been transformed into a pair.
The pictures tell the story.... Love, and delight and toe curling happiness! Love's not just for humans!

ReplyDeleteLove the socks and love the story! ;)
Meribeth
Thank you, Meribeth :) The pictures came first and suggested a love story, which just evolved.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to show off the pretty the pattern. But then, well, then it took on a life of it's own.
Woo hoo, a beshert match to be sure!
ReplyDeleteHi there Rissa, and yes, beshert match it is. They were really made for each other.
ReplyDeleteT'was Kismet!
The story made me giggle! Was able to log into the old root ball last night as they have allowed access to everyone as of yesterday. Was nice to see Atys but it just wasn't the same...

May I add:

It just seems so appropriate...
Kudos for finishing the Second Sock! They are lovely.
ReplyDeleteMy problem is First Sock Syndrome. What pair is next?
Cute socks! I love how they met...
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, I am woefully uninformed when it comes to sports - who or what are the Charger and Bolts?
Hi Annie! :) The old root ball is having some of the same old bug glitches but I am so happy to be playing Ryzom again with our guild mates that it makes it bearable. I just love the game so much and never thought it would be up again.
ReplyDeleteHi Fuzzarelly! :) Thank you! SSS really hit bad that time, and it's the yarn. Not good for socks. Let's see, next up is probably another lace sock, like something from Nancy Bush's books. But first, Gretchen and Manly Sweater must be done to 50%. I'm determined to get those two beauties done!
Ah, knittinreed, thanks your nice comment on the Hedgerow love story. I will tell the socks their story has touched another heart, but not to let it go to their toes, since they are a foot garment. Oh, about teams.. the Chargers are the local football team, and they have spectacular years now and then they crash the rest of the time.. pffft! ;) They are also called "The Bolts", because of the lightning bolt, which is their symbol, on their helmets. If they weren't here, I myself probably wouldn't even know who they were. teehee
pogonip, that is a beautiful poem. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt is truly appropriate. :o)
