Two Symbols and the Cure?
I've spent a day trying to find these on the web ANYWHERE. They seem to exist ONLY in the Manly Aran Sweater pattern. So, I've decided that, come what may, these somewhat different cables will be knit the way I've outlined them and as long as they are consistent, they will be fine. (PLEASE! If I am terribly wrong, STOP ME!!!) This pattern is a Drops or Garn studio free pattern. It has interesting words on the chart symbols that leave me with several untranslated bits of words to work on. Not being in any way, Scandinavian- unless Dutch counts- I've flung my fortune out there on
wind and hope that it's seeds take root and bear fruits, sweet ones.
Tomorrow we find out just how severe Jasper's blindness is, and whether his stumbling is neurological and bad or just a product of his blindness. Also we will find out whether we had better get the furniture moved PDQ, or not. He's a happy little chappy, and seems to enjoy his little life but does hate the dark. Once the sun is down he will not set a a single paw in the back yard past his little pee spot.
Today a new book came, Volume 2 of Vogue Stichianary (used but so new it's not to be believed), and a skein of Sundara "Glacial" is flying in from the far Eastly North- a gift of a generous KR member. A cheer me up and I thank you J. Very sweet of you. Well it's actually got me floating through doorways!
Tonight we watched a movie called "Central Station" about a little boy, and the woman who first abandons him, and then rescues him again, after his mother meets with tragedy. Something like this story must go on constantly in the lives of the 5 billion people who barely have a hand on the bottom rung of the ladder of life.
This film makes you think about Grace and makes you want to be very, very grateful. Only one truly bad thing happens early on, involving the precarious life for the underclass of boys in Rio. On the whole the movie is an amazing story. Don't let your little kids see it. I would let American teens see it, so that they can appreciate the life we have here. It's actors playing parts, not a documentary but I am sure it tells about things that really do happen in Brazil.

That's a very interesting cable stitch you have there, am going to go look it up in my huge knitting stitches book to see if it is in there and what it may look like when finished.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear about Jasper's blindness :-((
I'll be sending wishes for healing, health, and contentment to jasper. I hope all goes well.
ReplyDeleteKaren, thank you so much. I can really use the help on that part of the pattern. I flipped over it last time and it's got me again. What a puzzle!! Jazzie thanks you. He said to tell you that he's in pretty good shape for the shape he's in. ;)
ReplyDeleteSarah-Hope thank you for your good healing and other wishes.
The news is that he's not blind yet. *Queue Monty Python skit* He has cloudy lenses, sees through a fog like.. and degeneration of the retinas, the beginning of glaucoma-for which he now has eye drops Yay!- The neurologist says that he has something wrong but it would take an MRI to pin point it, but as long as he's not in apparent pain, he's good to go.
What more could a spoiled 12 yo baby pud ask for?
You guys should see this Eye Doc. He's from UK and just a terrific person. DH and he both have long hair but of course DH has a lot less of it. This fellow is very well credentialed, and we just love his calm, gentle nature. His assistants where just top notch, too. What a blessing that this level of care now exists for other little sentient beings. I feel like dancing!
So glad Jazzie is doing well. He has so much life in him, that a little fog isn't going to stop him. Although he may be a little more selective, so to speak.
ReplyDeleteI have seen that kind of cable before..and you are right about how it should be done. I also went to their site and looked at other cabled sweaters and that is what they say. Check out pattern 59-6, there is some English that says how to do various cables right at the beginning of the directions. THEN if you scroll down, you will see the symbols...and the symbols are in the exact order that was described earlier. Starmore does this type of cable often, but her notations are different. Bottom line: you are spot on!
meribeth
Well, bless my boots! Thank you Meribeth. all I saw was equal signs and what appeared to be a mistake in the file pages. I never connected that first written part to the charts! *bangs head On wall.
ReplyDeleteThat's the exact sweater that I'm knitting! Duh!
And Karen, thank you for your diligent search. I'll go leave a note on your blog so you know that this problem's been solved.
Thank you both so much!
Tell Jasper that I understand what he's going through. I had my first cataract surgery Thursday with the second scheduled for the 25th. I didn't realize how bad my vision had gotten until I could see again. With one eye. Bless his little heart, he's a real trooper.
ReplyDeleteI will tell Jasper your good wishes for him, Pogonip.
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled to hear that you are through the first cataract surgery and your sight is much improved. And best wishes for the one on the 25th. That sky really is very, very blue isn't it? Another friend told me that he was astounded at how blue the sky was for him now. Hugs!
