I found this site after listening to gourd instruments HERE This is a site called Nancy's Musical Meanderings. I think some of the music is in MIDI files but some of it is actually the real instruments.
I want to make a Shekere with a gourd that I have but it has a hole in the side. Maybe I'll use it anyway if the sound is right. Life can be fun if you add a lot of branches to your craft tree! ;o)
I'm off now to knit a couple of rows on the Manly Aran. This is a very slow process this big sweater with all those twisted stitches. =o\ hehe
Thanks! I visited the CC site. Interesting instrument the Cora. The only African music I'm familiar with is Rai, northern African Cheb Mami, Cheb Khaled style. Will check this out.

ReplyDeleteNow I want to check out all your resources that you posted. African music is really diverse because of all the influences on it. Morocco and Algiers, Egypt and all the ones farther south, just amazing sounds.
