Ancient Giant

 
They are really bigger than you can imagine them to be. How much of this unique and ancient forest was there before it was logged? Since the trees existed with large open spaces that were of other species of conifers, it's very difficult to estimate the original size of the forests. It isn't hard to estimate the amount of board feet that were hauled out of them, however. It was a brutal amount.

    I have just got to get out there. There are so many beautiful places I have not seen yet, and yet even when I go to the same places over and over they are new every time. The natural world is so lovely and so healing.

    You would love Yosemite, and be sure to have time to go to the Humbolt red woods and Big Basin, and the whole coast between Marina and San Francisco that is open. Lost coast is passable most of the time with a passenger car. There is so much beauty up there that it takes your heart and plants it. There's no escape after that. ;o)
