L sent this to me this AM. I think you all will enjoy reading it. It's about a man who was jailed for not being able to keep up his lawn, struggling along in retirement, and a Homeowner's Association that just couldn't let go of a Law and Order blindness, and a Marine who stepped in and started an amazing Chain of events.
This is an upper for the day:
The Lawn, a family down on luck, and the Marine
I tagged in Gardens and Flowers, because it's beautiful and it involves a garden.
I so love this story! You knowhow I feel about HOAs, and the small minded Gestapo attitudes that can develop. Mine is a real pain, but not bad considering this and other stories I've read.
ReplyDeleteWith the economy as it is, I wonder what side they are going to choose. The Light and give people a break that are having trouble? Or the Dark, by a more rigid interpretation of the rules and stomp on those who can not afford? I pray for the Light. Now is not the time to be a perfectionist.
Thank you so much for that article! It came at the right time for me.

Meribeth, m'friend, I know how you feel about HOAs. lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed hearing this most likely perfect example of what SHOULD happen within a community and doesn't happen enough. We can all hope that the good community newsworthy events will get reported more. There are going to be lots of chances to help, food is one, cutting red tape is another.
The ONE thing I love about our local paper is that they will run a story on something happening locally, and they will include a "How can I Help" section on the bottom.
