Tort "Belly Button"
This is the last bit to close up on the shell, and it's where the tortoise was attached to the yolk sac of it's mother's egg. When they are very small, this part is quite soft and has to be protected when the babies are handled. They can live for several weeks without food after they have absorbed the yolk sac into their bodies just before birth.
