You really REALLY have to read this post from the Progressive Fox blog.

This is happening to real people everyday in this country. We have to get that fat middle man out of the middle of our health care delivery system. We really, really do have to change it.
This appeared in the Daily Kos, and the original is a personal story from the Progressive Fox blog. My daughter sent me the link. She has her own little health care stories to tell.
Don't count on the Obama administration. He just declared that people in Gitmo will still be imprisoned there, even if they are found INNOCENT. Shall I hit you again with a large trout? Yes, that's what he supports.
So, watch what a public health plan does as it tries to compete with the greedy damn sharks of the health care insurance industry. This isn't funny and it's not going to be pretty. Not only that but these stories can get really personal really fast.
Absolutely the only thing I find comforting these days is that Planet Earth is a very tiny planet in an as yet unmeasurable Universe of Celestial Bodies. I just hope there are a lot better beings on a planet somewhere else who are untouchable, and that the kind, generous, and peaceful who suffer so much here actually get to go there when they get off this one.
*END RANT FOR THE CAUSE*
it really is scary...I feel we have the safety net of the military and Tricare for life...basically a medicad plan I belevie. I have nothing but positive to say about the care I've rec. over these almost 20 years. I was talking to a PA that was 17 years in 'civilian' offices and he has seen the struggle of that fat middle man. It really IS something America needs to consider....but I guess people are so tired of politians (govt.)running the country into the ground people wonder how they would run a health care plan.....but doing nothing will 'kill' us!!!!

ReplyDeleteCorrecting and expanding former comment I wanted to say:
ReplyDeleteIt is really scary, PJ. Thanks for your comment about other government programs doing a good job taking care of not only the military, but also the agéd, the Politicians and the High Government Officials. They don't want the rest of us to have the sort of plan they enjoy?????
Plus, Social Security and the Military Health plans are working.
If we can't do this for the whole country, then we don't deserve to call ourselves a "Just Nation", which was a recent allegation by the POTUS. Other highly industrialized nations are doing this for their people and it working AND it's not defective as this one is which rations care and cuts people out who pay in for years, get sick and get shafted.

Some functions are best served by the private sector, some better by government. When insurance companies provided fire services to subscribers who had the insurance plaque on their building, it didn't work very well. Firemen stood and watched buildings burn if they couldn't see the plaque.
ReplyDeleteCompany police were notoriously corrupt and often worse than the people they were paid to police.
Toll roads may be privately owned right-of-way, but must adhere to government standards. Most roads and highways are publicly owned and operated.
Monopolies, such as electric, water, trash collection, etc., are private enterprise under strict supervision of government entities.
It's time for our medical system to be operated by our government, or at the very least, monitored and supervised as other monopolies are.
I certainly agree that it is time for someone - a guardian angel? - to take a political big wig by the ahem the hand and show him just how to do the right thing here. The right thing is to get the money out of the middle, and just flat out pay the doctors like other countries do, and let the insurance go pedal it somewhere else. Anywhere they can but not here, and not anymore.
