The UCSD Arboretum is in trouble?

Someone asked what the flowers were that the Golden bumblebee was on.Since I don't know, other than that it is a plant from Australia or New Zealand, I've put a picture of the full stalk up above.

ETA, nova, it is indeed the one that has the purple curlies... 

I went in search of the name of this beauty but wasn't successful in that.  But, I did find a blog HERE that is saying the Arboretum is closing.  I really, REALLY hope that this is not true.  It is a magnificent garden, of long standing and with several important flora collections.
