Here's a treat! Wedding Cakes that are unusual and fab!

Sedona Wedding Cakes

Feast your eyes! And poke around the other headings..

OH!!!  She has a BLOG, too!

And, if you want to watch something truly amazing, try to catch this film  called The Kings of Pastry.  You can get it from Netflix but I'm not sure where else.  It's about the MOF competition in France every year.  You will be amazed at the confections that are made.  Gorgeous stuff!

Let me see, how else can I cheer you up after the government fiasco?  trying......

Bread and Tulips.  That's a review.  I think it's a great getaway movie about a housewife that escapes into the world of floral design and finds some very interesting adventures and happiness.  It's in Italian so you'll have to read subtitles.

Also, if you are looking for another very intelligently written mystery series, try giving Donna Leon's Brunetti mystery series a spin  - if you haven't already.  The Brunetti family life and interactions of this lively and amusing family of Italians, along with the mysteries to solve (Writer Leon gives you enough clues and surprises too, in her plots)  in a contemporary setting, has been one of the most entertaining "great escapes" of my summer.

We need our great escapes into literature- Jane Smiley has a new novel-  since Washington DC has really gotten out of hand.   I will say no more.   I don't want to spoil the mood.

  1. What is this Washington of which you speak? I refuse to know of it.
What's the Jane Smiley? I loved Cows, or Spots, or whatever it was called. And thank you for the kaleidoscope. I had fun, till I got a little dizzy.

  2. Ha! The Washington (DC)? How fortunate that you know it not! I believe that it's crimes are chronicled in the many books about "Disc World", by Terry Pratchett.

The Jane Smiley is one of those amazing human beings who can actually write about commonplace things and make them magical.

Glad you had fun with the kaleidoscope. Yes, dizziness is part of the fun. You did well!
