Echidna! They found one alive and living large. Well, as large as they ever did.

She must have a mate hiding out somewhere nearby. 

I remember studying them in college, as the last link between mammals and birds.  They are adorable..

      They were very rare when I first heard of them, and then they were declared to be -probably- extinct sometime in the early 60's. I'm so glad that they are still around. They are a link between mammal and avian!
