The New Burnt Rancheria.. When this campground nearly burnt out several years ago, and during the time it barely missed being burnt again two years ago, plans were made to make sure it was safer. This "urbanization" isn't too popular, but it's one of the ways that the parks can be made to last. I have definitely got mixed emotions over all this. But, the fires were so horrible themselves that anything that can preserve as much of the wild lands as possible while keeping them safer is about all we can hope for.
