This picture was taken after my mother gave up the California bungalow and moved to the army camp with my dad. From there, when he was shipped overseas, she went to live with her parents on their farm. She and her two married sisters stayed with my Grandparents while their husbands were in the European "theater". My brother is here this week, and we've been going through the old photos.
Koi photos coming right up. There are two areas in Balboa Park where Koi are kept, and they are extremely well cared for, watched over and fed. They love to nibble fingers.
What a nice picture -- I love the top she has on - I imagine it in all wonderful colors ;D

gosh, I remember Balboa park!
ReplyDeleteLovely Koi!
Hi Rho! Thanks for stopping in. Mom tried to dress nicely, and she was a good seamstress. I think you are right about the colors, sort of Hawaiian. :-) I was lucky enough to get some of her early forties patterns. Going to frame them.
ReplyDeleteHi Bullmonty, thanks for peeking at the blog, and isn't the park a gem of a place? I have some pictures taken by my DDs inside the Botanical Garden building. I'll share those soon and maybe it will bring back more memories. :o)
OMGosh, I should be doing some knitting content in here soon, too. Gah!
Ghee, your mom had some kind of figure!
ReplyDeleteI can tell even though she's sitting on that fence.:-)
Is that Dad in the background looking over her shoulder?
Trish
Well, yes, Trish, she was a pretty little gal, and she did have a great figure all her life. And Dad took the picture because at that point he was very proud of Mama. I'm in the picture, too, but you can't see me yet. heehee
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo!
