Sky Beauty Shot with Bird dot

Ok. Zoom in and tell me if that is a dove or a mocking bird please, and give your reasoning, as this is a very SCIENTIFIC study! heehee

  1. neither..it's a...a...gull, buzzard, or a ..a...hawk. Reasoning: It is pretty high up, and the mockers and doves we have in the east really don't bother flying that high. So much for science.

    Awesome pic!!

  2. Good Science there M. ;o) Great use of Comparative Analysis. heehee It's big enough for a small hawk.

Those were little ice clouds, which was all we got of the storm that eventually snowed all over the Midwest!

I think it might be the mother dove. Perhaps she finally gave up on my getting the elk horn fern back up for her to nest in, and she flew away in disgust.

Poor thing... She will find another place to propagate her species, I'm sure. Safer from cats no doubt, too.

  3. Hello, Zippi -

I don't know - it looks rather bat-like to me.

  4. Fuzzerelly, it probably does look like a bat but one thing I'm sure it isn't is a fly or a helicopter. What I think it is, after looking and at an even larger version, is a humming bird that whizzed by just as I was snapping the sky photo. It's actually a lot closer than it looks and the wing beats are silvery and blurred. Your answers were all fun and thank you for them! It was great to hear get your inputs. Thanks for taking part in this highly sought after scientific investigation. I will turn all the data over to NASA. heehee. It was an UFB, after all.
