ReplyDeleteThis thing is very ugly. It just shows you how fear can let so much else in the door as it distracts us from our shared humanity. Who would ever have thought we could forget the lessons of the Viet Nam war?

ReplyDeleteHomeland Security has pumped so much money into the system for Police departments all over the United States that if it were going for something really good it might have been wonderful. As it is, it's been used for "crowd control", things like tasers and riot gear and probably armored vehicles. That really helpful on a war on terror isn't it? Terrorists don't march down the street with signs protesting illegal wars, do they?
