Long ago when I was selling...

This popped up and I spied, with my little eye, one of the snowmen in the back under the window. There are things on that table that make me nostalgic.

Those fronds outside the window, the huge ones, are from the bird's nest fern in it's glory days. It survives still, but in much reduced grandeur. It probably needs some fertilizer. One of my resolutions for 2009 is to go through my private jungle and bring back it's beauty.

Still not knitting. Still sewing.

  1. Your work is so cool! I really mean that, and I love the Goose! She looks just like a goose that lived on the lake out back. She was the matron of honor at our wedding. We called her Princess, because when offered bread, her table manners wer impecable. Her general demeanor was very ladylike too. Oneday, she just wasn't there anymore.
But we do have the Matron Aunt still with us!

Do you miss working in clay? You did beautiful work.

  2. Thanks for your comment, you are very kind, and the story about your beautiful "Matron of Honor" is so touching.

I have to tell you, that most of what you see on the table is poured from commercial molds, so I can't take credit for anything, but the pouring, cleaning, and the actual decoration of it. I stopped feeling bad about that when I found out that nearly all the collectible vases and other 1920-40 objects were actually poured then hand decorated and glazed.

What I really do like to do is hand build clay forms. I can't do much of that anymore because of it being so hard on creaky joints,
and yes, I sure do miss it.

I still enjoy hand decorating, sumi-e painting and porcelain style with the newer paints. It's a real joy in life. It's very calming, like knitting and hand sewing, embroidery.. all that handwork stuff. :)
