This is a story about two unlikely friends. The video is within the story that was on CBS News the other night...
Tara and Bella's story
The video starts with a LOUD commercial, so you can turn sound down, and then back up for the story. I'm warning you because it's so loud..
Pogonip, thank you!
That video is so lovely! I can see some clever person writing a children's book about it.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like, too, is that there are kind folks out there that take in elephants! Who knew?
Hiya, Fuzzarelly. :o) I hope that someone does write a book about that friendship. It would be a good one. You have heard of the gorilla who adopted a tiny kitten and named it, "All Ball"? It's another amazing friendship.
ReplyDeleteI knew about the sanctuary because it's on a list at some zoo sites DH and I poke around in, but didn't know about Bella and Tara. The woman who started the sanctuary is an amazing story in her own right.
One of "our" elephants - Tina, who performed at John Ascuaga's Nugget - went to the Riddles Sanctuary in Arkansas where she died in 2003.
ReplyDeletePogonip, it's wonderful that Tina was able to live out her remaining years as free as possible. What a blessing to the sentient beings, are people like this kind couple with such a vision.
ReplyDeleteWow - that is so moving! Thank you so much for posting it. I will probably show it to Baby Luann without the sound... he gets worried when he sees someone getting sad about something, but I know he'd love to see a puppy and an elephant, two of his favorite creatures, who are best friends.
ReplyDeleteHI there TGL. You are such a kind and wise Mama. I hope the Baby Luann likes the friendship video.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I can poke around the net and find the All Ball story to post. It's a lovely one as well.
Hope BL likes Tara and Bella.
OOOOPS.. That one had a sad ending. Sheesh.. won't be posting that one for BL.
