I'm just too sickened by these leeches to really send off a ranting comment, but if you'd like to read about their blood sucking tentacles reaching out into State Assembly bills that were a reaction to the outrage, read HERE.
I don't think we can ignore our health care issues. We do have to keep hacking away at this Monster middleman which has insinuated itself, like a cancer, onto the population. Strong words? Well, I think we need to start thinking of them in a whole new way. The Health Insurance Industry had it's chance to do what it said it would do. So did Communism, and both failed miserably and with terrible consequences.
Now that the AMA has jumped in, for God only knows what reason but my bet is on the dollars they will lose, not the harm that will come from dumping a huge fat Grub from the middle of the doctor/patient relationship, it's time for the rest of us, They Who Pay the Bills, to tell off the AMA and tell them to suck it up and help us change this or get the heck out of the way. Perhaps, they've already sold their souls?
I don't think anything will change until the population rises up and demands change. It's still difficult because so many groups see it differently, and while they may want change, they can't agree on what change they want. Have you read this New Yorker article:

The "funny" thing is, I think the population has risen up and said this is unacceptable. Our elected representatives are not listening. Once they get in office they become the pawns of the powerful corporations. What are our options in these circumstances?
ReplyDeletePogonip, that is a kick ass article, and it's just the sort of thing that is needed, with more exposure than it gets at Harper's, frankly. I hope it can get it.
ReplyDeleteEllen, the population needs to keep the pressure on, because there is no other way to scare these leaches into real fear. They are getting afraid, believe me, when they start going after Doctors who are doing something completely legal and insinuating themselves, yet again, in the middle of a doctor patient relationship. It shows just how scared they are if they will step up pressure on a politician right out in the open. They usually hide in the shadows.
We need to keep the pressure on and watch for openings and the opportunity to defeat them. One of the ways is to keep fighting back when they propagate more lies about Universal Healthcare. They are AFRAID, and we have to see this as their vulnerability. Our voices and our power, We Who Pay The Bills, will be the deciding factor. There are a helluva lot more of us than there are of them. We have a bigger voice, all they have is backdoor glad handing and pots of money. But, it's OUR money they are using. Ours... We pay it to them so that they can slit our throats in the Lobby of the White House? I don't think so!
