Happy Christmas Eve.

It's very simple to make peanut butter balls, so I thought I'd show you the only slightly hard part, and that is dipping them.

The cool down in the fridge for a few minutes gives you a very nice finish on the chocolate - you add a little shortening.  Then, next morning you can eat the mutants, and trim the bottoms of the rest a little bit, and put  them in the little cups. There are some Orange Cardamom cookies in the back that got decorated with left over melted chocolate.   At first I felt funny about putting less than perfect candies here for you to see, but did want to show that it's easy to do, and nothing to be afraid of.  And you still get to eat those Mutant ones!  Winwin, eh?

I hope you all have a good time making good things to give away and to eat.

Merry Christmas!

  2. Thank for that too, PJ, and may yours be lovely and sweet.

Be sure that the first taste of the new year is sweet, like a candy or something, and that is an old Norse tradition.

We use to pass a box of candy around the campfire on the New Year's Eve Camp outs we took with the Rockhounds. Those were fun.

I am going to stay off the forums so much and put energy into reading blogs and knitting. And reading! I have a great book right now called, "Three Cups of Tea". It's so exciting I can hardly put it down.

  3. The peanut butter balls are best made with natural peanut butter. I've now made them with both kinds of pn butter, and Natural is the way to do. Roasted, but not fillers.

Oh, I forgot, yes, we have twins, in this family. We have Irish twins, those born a year apart, and much later some identical twins. Fun fun.

Oh that healthcare stuff. It is going to break our hearts if we just have to keep pouring money down the rat hole of for profit health care and watch them laugh at all of us. It's enough to make you sick, you know?
