Gulf Fritillary takes it's ease

From it's lack of more spots, I am assuming this is a Gulf rather than and Pacific Fritillary.  Maybe it's even a Western Meadow Fritillary which is sometimes called a Pacific Fritillary.  Are you as confused as I am now???!!!  I hope so!

This is one tough little butterfly to sneak up on! The dead scented geranium to the left was luxuriant until Poko Ono dug under it. If you like a garden full of nice things don't get involved with desert tortoises. They have NO respect for anything in your garden, not even rock walls three feet high. They will find a way to climb them.
