But darn, all nine of you have read this already!
Now that Earth Day is huge and world wide, everyone wants to take credit for the idea. But well before 1970 there was an environmental movement that was working to save smaller spaces, like the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area, for one. I know because it's something that I worked on myself. All over the United States there were people getting mobilized for this fight to save and preserve the Earth.
Go Seoul! You Rock!
Here is a neat Quiz from Christian Science Monitor
QUIZ
It's called, "Are you saving the planet, or just showing off."
And, to add a bit from Grist, that Beacon in the Smog, there is their "tribute"! Be sure to check out the Sin Gallery for a few screams of laughter, and yes, I cannot tell the difference between "their" and "there" without my brain in the "on" position. I've also frogged back both sides of that Gad Darn Noro BEASTY for the fourth... COUNT THEM.. time. There is this massive disconnect between my eyes, hands and the sweater pattern.
DUH! Anyway, here is.....
EarthDay from Grist!
Go Grist! You ROCK, BABY!!
Our Only Home.... it's worth the fight to save it.
I think an Astronaut took this picture. I think NASA probably owns it. So, there is the Photo credit. It sure isn't one I took! teehee

Isn't it Gorgeous?!! |
your 7th reader thinks Earth Day should be every day! I remember elem. days were spent outside on a fieldtrip collecting wildflowers and making a scrapbook (thus appreciating nature)I even have work my mom kept for me regarding 'earth science' classifications of flora/fauna etc. sadly, my kids never saw those type of worksheets. Now kids (esp. in the past 8 yrs...) don't even get outside....we don't honor our outdoors....and then don't let me speak about the critical budgets of our national parks/lands. one day of 'Earth Day' isn't gonna correct stuff when the underlying foundation isn't there. ok, you made me get on my soap box again...hehe!
ReplyDeleteYour comment deserves a complete post, and I want to get on the soap box, too. Did you guess it? hehehe!
ReplyDeleteI like the earth. I do what I can to keep my little area of the world as recycled as I can.
ReplyDeleteIn California there is a place by Monterey, where people were concerned about conservation. They even have pictures of the people from the 1930's at this place. Asilomar. I remember the name now.
Hi Z, doing what you can is the key to it all. And Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, Asilomar. Wonderful place. And,of course, farther up the coast there is the town of Arcata. I would live there if I could, well, more like Central Coast.
Recently I've just been leaving my heart up in Central Coast, and neither Asilomar or Arcata are very far away then. hehe
