This is an old Black and White that's been digitized, and it has one of the funniest scripts ever produced. It's not in the fashion of a "Christmas Vacation - National Lampoon" slap stick, but a very clever script and acting. It just has an unfortunate name at the moment.

My mother looked like Barbara Stanwyck, but she didn't like to be told so; she preferred to be told she looked like Paulette Goddard. Netflix in the UK doesn't have Christmas in Connecticut (why is life so complicated?) but I will see if I can track down a copy, as I do like a good script with a wisecracking woman. ReplyDeleteBest wishes in finding the movie in the UK. It's really fun, in an antique way. Also, I was looking at studio photos of both actresses, and they do look very similar in those photos. Both are beautiful in their own way. It would be a compliment for your mother either way.
