Thankful Thursday

Today I'm giving thanks for all the basically volunteer run grassroots organizations that grew powerful enough to be heard in the halls of Congress.  This phenomenon was created with the help of ordinary people who banded together, for Common Cause, to get things done.  Some of these organizations are fairly new, like the NRDC, and  Women for Women.  Some are old, old trench fighters like Common Cause,  Nature Conservancy,  U.S. Human Society, Audubon Society, Doctors Without Borders, GreenPeace, and Habitat for Humanity, Sierra Club, and Amnesty International.

I'm thankful for all the donations of time and money, both the huge corporate ones and the tiny "widow's mites", which have helped change the way things are done.  You have given us a more stable, humane world to live in and pass on to the generations to come.

Here is a "Thank you" from NDRC, with a little appeal, of course, at the end.  But the idea is that a dedicated group, from all walks of life, can make a difference.  I am thankful for each of you who made a difference.

Truly, You Made it Happen.
