Welcome to Saturday: 9.
(thanks Cat!)
If you're not familiar with today's song, you can hear it here.
1) The lyrics begin with Katy singing about when she used to "hold her tongue." Tell us about a time when you didn't speak up, but wish you had. Many times I should have defended my kids from certain people, and didn't have the guts or position in the pecking order to do it. I wish I'd just been the Biotch, you know? We all would have been better off for it.
2) The lyrics mention both lions and tigers. In addition to the big cats, the video shows a monkey and an elephant. If we were going to the zoo today, which animal would you want to see first? I always want to see the Marmosets, Mere cats and Lemurs first.
3) Lions and tigers are carnivores. If we were having steak for dinner, would you order it rare, medium or well done? Medium. Someone else can have the bloody meats. Brrr!
4) Lots of photos are snapped at the zoo. Did you take your last picture with a camera or with your phone? Camera. There is nothing like my cameras, which are old, though the newer phone is pretty awesome, too.
5) The "Roar" video takes place in the jungle. The average temperature all year around in the rainforest is a humid 80º. The typical September day in Juneau is 49º, dry and sunny. Which sounds more comfortable? We just watched Wild South America, or something like that. I'd want to spend a couple of weeks there but then I'd head right to Juneau!
6) In her youth, Katy took dance lessons at the local recreation hall in Santa Barbara. Crazy Sam took tap dance lessons as a girl, too. What about you? Were you sent off to dance class? Music lessons? Art class? I'm older, it was just after the war, and we were poor. Mother danced with us when she wasn't too busy, she actually played with us sometimes. She was my first art teacher.
7) Katy recently passed Justin Bieber as the most followed person on Twitter. What's the last message you re-tweeted? Sorry, I just don't do Twitter. I might be there but lost interest when I discovered "texting"! Way more fun!
8) Congratulations! You just won the lottery! Do you want it in a lump sum, or would you prefer payments over the next 25 years? Lump sum, at my age, I want to hand it all out to the next gen and to my many causes. AC down, and paint and curtains to go, and we are done.
9) Did you get 8 hours sleep last night? Seven, actually less because the neighbors were banging around trash cans at 6 am.
What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
And now, Saturday Komeekz. I feel for Pearl. Well, I think her name is Pearl. I love this cartoon! Do you know that Brian Crane writes from funny things that have happened in his life, and of course, his Gen. Go Brian!
This scenario played out recently at the Z habitat. "nuf said", as a friend remarked on her blog about seven weeks of hospital drama.

I am such a momma bear when it comes to my kids. But I also try to hold my tongue so they don't suffer the backlash of whatever my big mouth comes up with.
ReplyDeleteOh then you know what it's like, too, Lissa. One of my close friends once likened what she was going through as "a knife in the heart while getting one in the back, too". Horrible behaviors come out of dominance fights in families and in a workplace. It's so hard to speak out when you know some innocent is going to suffer for it. I'd love to fully believe that those who mistreat will get fully repaid. I've got big doubts now though.
DeleteI'm sure we all have had those moments when we wish we would have stuck up for our kids a little better. We are human.
ReplyDeleteYes, and weighing all things in the balance comes with experience. There are some people who are just evil minded, and very territorial. Sadly we become related to them. They need their own planet work on each other and not us or our little children.
DeleteI like Twitter during events, like a Cub game or the Oscars. It's not good for actual, one-to-one communication, but it can be fun.
ReplyDeleteOh! That gives me an idea! Thank you, Gal! Perhaps I will start expanding my group a little. I do like getting knitting hints.
DeleteI love your answers!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kwizgiver!
DeleteI'm actually catching up here. I'm such a slacker at times!
Love the new photo!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Wendy! That's another old Ricoh snap. Love that old thing.
