17 Meme

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we try to credit the blog that we stole it from. We also provide a link to the victim's meme in our "Previous Victims" widget. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") Sometimes we edit the original meme, to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, to select the best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from this new meme or recently asked questions from a previously featured meme.
Cheers to all of us thieves!!!

Are you a jealous person?   No

When is the next time you’re traveling out of state?  six years ago-- oh future?  I have no idea. lol

Can you write your name in a foreign language?   Spanish, and French and Italian

When you’re getting ready for something, do you listen to music?   Music is the most important sound to me nowadays.

What is your favorite day of the week?   I like Saturday very much.

What is something you did yesterday and wish you could’ve done today?  Yesterday I set up the sweater to knit this week.  I would have liked to get the strips down on the shower for today.  If answering these is a mental test, I'm, failing miserable, obviously.

If you woke up tomorrow and knew/spoke a different language, which language would you want it to be?  French

What did you last order online?  Ordered some pants which were promptly, I meant to say,  backordered!!!! barebacked?????  it's late I need SLEEP!

Do you have any specific hobbies?  I'm an American Artisan who sews, knits, crochets, and quilts.  I also have done lost wax casting and wire wrapped jewelry, as well as cold forged pieces, some stone carving,.and I've made custom jewelry..  I turned all my hobbies into a business called Strawberry Moon Studios - that is,  I once did all this.  Ceramics, too.  It was a ball while it lasted.

What’s a song you recently discovered that you want to tell everyone about?
It's a Tahitian dancing song about the way the Long tailed Tropic Bird flies and courts, only it isn't recently discovered, but it was many, many years ago, I heard and saw it.  If you hear you will never forget it.  It will haunt you.

Favorite fall or winter accessory?
pull over sweaters, especially when it's cold.  Cold, here, means 61 degrees.  The sort of weather brass monkey should stay out of is only overnight.  Everyone stays in then except the cops.  Can you tell I've been watching "Blood Bloods".

What did you last eat?  I ate one third of a Clif protein bar with my night meds. Time to sleep!zzzzz

Look to your left. What’s there?  A Gigantic pile of books that only stopped growing when our DD Bee gave me a kindle that was passed down through several families - Communal property like.  My Sis has it now because she's been bitten by the e-book bug, too. Then there is a small chest that was my grandma's,  into which they put my tiny self as a new born.  There is a pile of papers to sort and clip, two huge baskets of assorted yarns, one of which we used to transport the young Cooper's Hawk to Project Wildlife last year.  That's about it.

How long does it take you to fall asleep?  It takes less than 20 minutes most nights now.  I learned, second hand, from Mr.Z'z trainer, to concentrate on my breathing.  Then I repeatedly say '"think of nothing".  I wake up only if the dog whines around 5 am for his breakfast.  He's as bad as a cat or two I know!

Is there a TV in the room you are in?  No.  We do however have a wire for cable.  So easy to ignore it.

What comes to your mind when I say red? Immediately?  Watermelon.  My mind is already on summer.

Name something you think is pointless?  Being upset about war. Or even politics for that matter. Its a Hobby for Admirals and Generals and the "Smart" people who build all their newest "Boomerangs" and Bazookas for them.

I'd really rather try to do something truly good for our people who are hurting because the Self Important Smartest Guys in The Room are so heartlessly selfish, carving up the world's resources and setting up smaller countries to receive the cadre of puppet masters i.e. the elite know-it-alls sent in afterward.  This, while they go back to playing. King of the Hill with their Armies and Navy. Too Hell with them.

I'm going to go knit.

    1. So many Americans are starting to feel the lack of caring for America's real world safety and welfare, like the Corporate entities doing things that go into spending so much of the people's money on boondoggles, particularity ones that destabilize the world community.and make things worse. We want it to END! I think that's why the word "pointless" drew so many responses about the situation in Congress and The Lobby bottom feeders, in short, Government because we have now a permanent bureaucracy.

Not to start a debate or anything, but we have got what the British lived to regret, a permanent bureaucracy, revolving doors for influence peddlers, that actually runs the country. When we had the chance to finance campaigns a different way, we the people dropped the ball. The check off on income tax forms would have been revolutionary.

  2. Wow! I am impressed by all the crafty things you know how to do. I would have liked to sit with you and learn...also to have seen all the lovely things you made.

Just a bit cynical about government, eh? LOL I think we are all fast becoming cynical where Washington is concerned.

    1. I would have loved to teach you. Some of my stuff is up on this blog but by necessity not very much.

Oh yes, a raw nerve there...I've been a firebrand since I gave a glowing report about John Foster Dulles in Poly Sci one year in College.

I was immediately chided by other more inquisitive students about not looking into things carefully enough. After that came Vietnam, and the run up of the war that made wall street rich and ripped through my generation, and for what? A Civil war we should have stayed out of. I feel too old to keep my mouth so shut anymore. It needs to end.

  3. I loved all of your answers! I read more on my iPad than regular books now. It's almost enough to make me sad - there goes the paper book industry! That is so cool about your Grandmother's chest, as well. My grandmother could knit and crochet like nobody's business. She taught my aunt, and my aunt was going to teach me, but died before she could :(.. It's getting to be a lost art.

    1. I'm a bit worried about the printed book too. I hope they don't disappear but somehow I don't think they will.

Kathy, that's sad about your Aunt. But she can look over your shoulder and cheer you on. If you have a few afternoons or evenings to spare, find a knitting/crochet group near you, or a place that sells yarn and offers knitting/crochet evenings, and you can learn both. I had to teach myself crochet because I'm a left hander, but I knit right handed. So many who knit also crochet. Best wishes!

  4. There seem to be a lot of people that I know who enjoy quilting. I've only tried it a few times.

    1. Do something small if you think you'd enjoy it. Quilting is very relaxing, both the hand piecing and the quilting. Quilt show winning quilts are being machine pieced and quilted which is a big step in the craft.
Quilting is fast becoming one of the most beautiful of art forms. I'm a traditionalist but fell in love with raw edge at an international quilt show in Santa Clara one year. It was a gorgeous Quilt but I'm not that brave. The few I've made go onto a bed.

    1. Ah yes, and you are a very prolific knitter. I'm sort of a slouch knitter. heehee And, thank you for looking at what is going on with my knitting. I'm struggling but I'm knitting. lol

    1. Always try again. When I started out I was 11, and struggled on and off, with dubious help from school friends along the way, until my aunt and grandmother- I am rich in paternal relatives who were good to me- taught me, at 13 to cast on and knit properly -you know, without that growing length of yarn between the two needles. Give it another go! Try again. :-)

  7. Ceramics.... that's not something you hear every day! My grandmother owned a ceramic shop and from the time I could sit up I worked both with and for her.... pouring, cleaning, painting, firing, glazing, firing, smoothing, etc. I had a great time.

  8. Hi April...Thanks for sharing about your early intro to a very rewarding hobby craft. And, how lovely to have learned at a Grandmother's knee, to do all that having a complete ceramic shop entails. In the early days, the 90's, I did all that, too. It's a wonderful hobby, and I might still do more of it in the form of garden pots, if DH and I can still heft my molds.

  9. You're a woman of many crafts.....I'd love to take up more creative hobbies, the only one that passed down from our family women was knitting.

I'd be pretty interested to hear that Tropic Bird song I love melodies that get you right away. Any links?

    1. Hi Helena. It was in a PBS series called, "Nomads of the Wind". I recorded it and watched the dancer in her white costume and listened to her voice, and the drumming, clapping song-a song sung by a group as well as her - until I would never forget it.

I don't think that series has ever been offered at their store though I watched for it for years. The series chronicles the methods used by the Polynesians to spread all over the Pacific Ocean. They were, without question, the most intrepid sailors that every were.

    2. Wait! It's available at Amazon! Amazing! But it's a used VHS tape for $40.

    3. The Dancer and the musicians were from the Marquesas Islands.
