Saturday 9: Magic, Olivia Newton John.

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Magic (1980)

Note to Sam: I'm doing this on the netbook so it's pretty sparse.

If anyone would like to join in on the meme, go HERE

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it Here.Here.

1) This 1980 video depicts Olivia Newton-John as a performer in small club. For the past few years, she's been performing regularly at the Flamingo in Las Vegas. Have you ever been to Las Vegas?
Four times.  Las Vegas, to me, is a roadblock similar to Los Angeles, and in the way of where I want to get to. So, yes and no.

2) Many tourists who want to get away from the glitz of Vegas travel less than 20 miles to visit Red Rock Canyon. This national park is known for its hiking trails, which provide a view of the desert flora and red rock peaks. Tell us about a time you were impressed by natural beauty.
Our club did a tour of the four corners region, and we saw Bryce Canyon, the Grand Canyon, Natural Bridges, and Zion.  This is a beautiful country.

3) One of the best-reviewed restaurants in Las Vegas is Andiamo Italian Steak House. When you order a steak, how do you request it be cooked: rare, medium rare, medium, medium well or well done?
Medium rare thank you.

4) Olivia Newton-John's father was an officer in MI5, the UK's secret service. Sam's most recent encounter with the law didn't have much drama or intrigue: she asked a cop for directions to the highway. Tell us about the last time you spoke to an officer of the law?
I was asked to speak to a detective about an altercation between my neighbor and a stalker.

5) ONJ was awarded the OBE -- Order of the British Empire -- by Queen Elizabeth in honor of her contributions to the arts. Here's your opportunity to boast. What is something you've done lately that you received praise for?
I can't think of anything at the moment.  Sorry, my life is pretty dull right now.

6) A breast cancer survivor, Olivia helped found a cancer center in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. When you think of Australia, what comes to mind?
Californians absolutely adore Aussies!  I think of all the people there.

7) "Magic" was one of the top-selling records of 1980. Also that year, Post-It notes debuted. Do you enjoy shopping for office supplies, or do you consider it a chore?
I love to shop for paper products. Paper is, to me, one of the best inventions of Human Beings.

8) In 1980, the NASA space probe returned the first photos of Saturn back to earth. Do you believe intelligent life forms from other planets are  trying to learn more about us?
Yes, as it's a very big universe and I hope we humans are not the all of life, even though too many of us think we are the sharpest knives in the drawer.

9) Random question: Are you more confident in your looks or your intelligence?
Even though fortune favors the fair, age does not, so I'll go with my Intelligence, and that's because it's never let my down.

This was fun, Gal.  Thank you!.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read and comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

  1. #4 -- I had a similar experience Thursday. A neighbor went missing and her daughter wanted the police to look for her. Usually the police wait to look for a missing person and need a little proof of trouble because, well, we each have the right to go off by ourselves without telling anyone. So the police were asking us if we could confirm that our neighbor had cognitive difficulties. If she had dementia, they could begin looking for her immediately ... Even though it really wasn't about ME at all, it was stressful to talk to the police. I imagine it was the same for you.

    1. Hope that someone good finds your neighbor, and helps her get to a police station.
And yes, it was stressful, because I knew what I saw and had to logically explain a chain of events leading up to a false claim of injury by the stalker. a mess!

    1. It's so beautiful, and so Quiet out there. You will love it.
We also visited the Hopi Mesas, and a place called Canyon Des Chelly that used to be part of their lands until approx 700 years ago.

  3. Apparently I am unable to type and think today. I enjoyed your answers and had never heard of the four corners before. I shall have to point that out to a friend who loves traveling the U.S. And I think you are one very intelligent woman!

    1. Yes, the place is stupendously beautiful. And, one trip there deserves another. Just go out across the Sierras and down through Nevada and you are almost there. ;o) I love LOVE the United States and wish I'd traveled more.

    1. Ah, my fellow knitter, I guess it's time to put up a picture in Rav. I will share it at 75% but everything has been stalled out due to this arm/shoulder complication. grrrr
You will love four corners. There is a lot to see in and around there and it's beautiful. We went in Spring time.

    1. Since you love nature, you will love this area. Renting an RV is a nice way to see it. All the Rockhounds who went with us had rigs, and we'd just bought a used Bounder. It's a fantastic way to see the USA, possible apologies to Chevy. :- }
