Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Saturday 9: Jump (1984)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
Sam, I love this song! Great Vocals and a fantastic drummer and lead guitarist. ♥ Thank you!

1) David Lee Roth does a lot of jumping in this video. He credits his flashy moves to his study with marital artist Benny Urquidez. Have you ever tried karate, judo, or jiu-jitzu?
Never tried any of them but sort of wish I had. I am drawn to Jiu-jitzu.
2) Dave claims to be fluent in Spanish. Say something "en español."
¿Por qué? No es posiblé. Esto es una computadora.
3) Dave appeared as himself in an episode of The Sopranos, playing poker with Tony Soprano. Are you a good poker player?
No. I just don't have the poker face nor the card counting abilities for it. Therefore I play Crazy Eights, War, Go Fish, or Cribbage. Sadly, there aren't any kids around to play it with. Where did they all go?
4) Though known for his prowess on the guitar, Eddie Van Halen wrote the opening of this song at the keyboard when he was still new to the synthesizer. When do you recently venture outside your comfort zone? Was it a success?
Years ago, I was asked to give a Eulogy for a friend. I think it was fine, though I'll never do another one. But, at least no one came up to me with a seething look on their face. She was a really great gal. It was easy to do this for her and her grandson.
5) Eddie's older brother Alex is the Van Halen drummer and his son, Wolfie, began touring with the band in 2007. Have you ever worked with a family member?
Nope. I've sat at farmer's markets with my DD's but they were the only ones working.
6) Van Halen's first manger was Marshall Berle. Mr. Berle's uncle was Milton Berle.
Does the name Milton Berle mean anything to you?
Oh ya! I still love that guy. He was funny!
7) In 1984, when this song was popular, AT&T/Bell Telephone was broken up into 24 separate companies. Today, who is your phone provider?
AT&T. And, I'll have you know that the rats have returned and rebuilt the ship! Take that, you Union Busting SOBS!
8) Also in 1984, Michael Jackson was severely burned while filming a Pepsi commercial. Would we find any Pepsi in your kitchen right now?
Really? Frankly, anything that flammable shouldn't be in the kitchen. *winks*
Stage Pyrotechnics are not child's play.
9) Random question: Have you ever been so angry that you kicked or hit an inanimate object?
Yes, I have. I plead either the Fifth, or Insanity. And here is a handy video of how to mend that which thou hath wrought.
I love card games too and have tried teaching my kiddos Gin Rummy, but it hasn't stuck. I used to play allll the games with my grandma (except Cribbage, and she tried to teach me Bridge, but *that* didn't stick with me), so I'm hoping Rummy will be a game we add soon. Kind of sad my kids only know Go Fish! lol
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I could give a Eulogy for anyone I really liked. I'd be a basketcase. Good for you for being able to do it!
I love to play most simple card games. But I could never learn Bridge. I play to relax, not go to battle.
DeleteThis Eulogy was pretty easy. There were no "dark" periods of her life to gloss over, nor, in fact, anything other than kindness. She was a Kind, generous, teacher of many.
People remember when you step up, like you did when you gave that eulogy. Good for you for being there when it really counted.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gal. I just spoke from the heart.
DeleteHa! We both shared the exact same Milton Berle quote! Truth is funnier than fiction, no?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you did a wonderful job on the eulogy. I hope I'm never called on.
Your drywall repair video cracked me up. :)
Ah! So we did! Truth be told, he was a very astute and wise fellow.
DeleteI never want to do another, but I'm glad that I was asked to do this one Eulogy.
Glad you liked that video. I like DIY stuff on YouTube. Some of it is, well, charming?
Plead the fifth or insanity.. I like that, I need to use that the next time I "kick" something! Have a great Saturday!
ReplyDeleteI am not nearly as insane as I used to be. No energy left. lol
DeleteHope you have had a great Saturday, and, see you tomorrow? Sunday Stealing...
Good gravy I have been through that damn dry wall fix in my past. Thank goodness for Youtube. I liked your upside down question mark.
ReplyDeleteI've had to live without YouTube in most of my fixer upper life, but yes, it's lovely! Dry wall is tough to a point but can't take being run into by the corner of piece of furniture, either. lol My sister used to use toothpaste to patch her little, tiny "faux pas"
DeleteOh! Those upside down question marks are all the rage. You get them on the number pad with the Alt key and a few numbers. Or on the iPad by holding down the key you press on for the question mark. Soon it gives you choices. All keys are the same on an iPad - Lots and lots of diacritical marks. Dead easy. ;o)
I love the Milton Berle quote!
ReplyDeleteMe, too! Glad you liked it. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was THE ONE!
DeleteI am glad you showed us how to repair dry wall. Might come in handy here in a minute or two ...
ReplyDeletewhooo hoooo... lol No, don't destroy something of yours because of D.C. clowns.
DeleteThey could have their own vaudeville show! What would they call it? Nero Rides Again?
My father was the Cribbage player; he always wanted to teach me but i was in my rebellious phase
ReplyDeleteWell, don't worry, you could still learn, and anyway,it's natural for teens to rebel a bit. It's why the Aboriginals send their 16 year old sons on "Walkabout".
