What is one thing that you would change about yourself if you could?
I'm just too old to change.  Next!

Name three exotic countries you would like to visit:
But that would be telling...

What do you think the secret to life is?
Love, and Evolution.  I like the quote from Carl Sagan that was posted here a couple of days ago.

And, an aside....Tlbt ...Thanks!

Best concert:
Neil Diamond from the nosebleed seats in the Sports Arena one year.  It was fantastic. I was deaf for a week!

Song you can listen to over and over and not get tired of:
There are many, many songs that are in this list, but I'll pick one...."Landslide"

Worst movie music soundtrack or score:
I have no idea what is the worst.  I can't even remember any bad ones.  But then I don't watch a lot of crappy movies like Eating Rauol anymore.  Don't go there....lol

A song you wish wouldn't get stuck in your head but always does:
I don't have one.

Who was your FIRST date?
A random blind date- a nice kid, really, who was a friend of my work friend's boyfriend.

Do you still talk to your FIRST love?
Oh yes. all the time.  I married him.

What was your FIRST alcoholic drink?
My little cousins and I would beg our grandpa for a sip of his whiskey when we all sang together so it was then.  He gave us a half a thimbleful.  I still have the now tiny thimble as it was my grandmother's. She was a tiny little hill folk Gal, all of 4'7".

What was your FIRST job?
For Cash money?  Carpenter

What was your FIRST car?
A red 55 Merc, in High School.

Where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane?
I took a ride at an airshow in a biplane.  We just went up and circled around the airfield and back down.  I was about 35.....

Who was your FIRST best friend; do you still talk?
No. We'd been best friends for about three years.  And, it ended badly when I said to her, in the fifth grade,  "I love you".  She took it to mean something I'd never heard of in my life.  That is OK but that's not what I meant.  I probably would have taken a bullet for her I cared for her so much.

I'm so glad that kids can now say this to each other and not have a "blow up in your face" thing happen that is both confusing and heartbreaking.  Now, looking back, I know I didn't do anything wrong.  It really WAS her problem.

Whose wedding did you attend the FIRST time?
My niece's first wedding.  And, it literally was the first wedding I'd ever attended.  I missed my Sister-in-Law's wedding because our baby was very sick and it was a three hour drive and a stay over night.  I was not happy about it but babies need to stay put when they are so sick.

Tell us about your FIRST roommate.
She was a senior at UCLA, and was amazingly kind and just a beautiful person.  We stayed in touch until just before she died a few years ago.  She taught me so much.  She showed me what it takes to pick up the pieces and go on after losing a child.  I will love you, Pat, forever.

If you had one wish, what would it be (other than more wishes)?
Darn, that's what I was going to wish for... you are mean! I used to think that I'd wish for my daughter back healthy and happy. But then, she would have to die all over again at some point and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

What is something you would learn if you had the chance?
Latin.  I want to speak it.

Did you marry the FIRST person you were in love with?
Yes, as a matter of fact, I did.

What were the first lessons you ever took and why?
I never had music lessons or any other lesson as a kid other than what I learned, which was Encyclopedic, at my mother's knee. So, a long way down the road.... I think it would have to be Upholstery.  We took the adult extension classes and had an amazing teacher.  ROP is still one of the best programs that was ever created.

What is the first thing you do when you get home?
I take of my shoes and my *&%$@!* brassiere!

  1. Your story about your childhood friend surprised me. Not her reaction per say, but that she knew what it was. Maybe I was an exceptionally sheltered child but when I was in 5th grade in 1974 I had no clue about any such thing. I'm pretty sure I was in at least 9th grade before I became aware that relationships were not always male/female.

    1. I'm sure my friend was told that I was bad and she needed to stop being friends with me, maybe by older brothers or ignorant parents. I rode my bike up around the Dam, where she lived. It was, I hate to say, like the poorest neighborhood of shacks, all built from what ever came to hand. I, who was poor, didn't think anyone could be poorer, but her family was. So, I believe they were ignorant as well. My poor dear friend.

  2. Neil Diamond would be a great concert! How exciting you got to go! It is so sad that a person cannot say I love you and it just be just that. I tell my friends I love them all of the time. Have a nice long weekend!

    1. Yes, it was sad, and sudden, like the very next day. We were fifth graders, I'm sure that she was told by someone at home that I was bad. I couldn't fathom why, until, like Stacey said, you get older and get clued in... then I knew.
Thank you, I did have a good quiet weekend and stayed cool as well. Not hot barbecues for me!

  3. Eating Raoul brought back a flood of memories! We had a drinking game that went with it.

    1. It is a hilarious movie but definitely not something I've want to watch again. A drinking game, you say? Now, that sounds like fun. lol

  4. We attended 2 Neil Diamond concerts when my son's best friend was on his tech crew. He gave us a backstage tour after the show. We found out that the last thing Diamond sees before he goes on stage is the name of the town in which he is performing so he can say "Hello, (name of town)" when he begins. The little boat-thing that he has on stage is interesting, too...where his friends sit and where he can "refresh" between songs. Greg (Ned's friend) traveled with many celebrities (like Madonna) and says Diamond was the nicest.

    1. Neil Diamond is an amazing singer/songwriter. And, what great memories you have of the concerts that you saw.
I'd have loved to be one of his Roadies! But alas..although I was a carpenter, I was also already a parent.
      Madonna, however, is serially insane.

    1. Gah! The torture wracks that have been devised for the anatomy of females! Bras..
Thank you for what you have said about my answers. I think it's my age and too much time on my hands. And I'm glad to be a blessing to you. I feel the same!
I really do think I've found a cousin from my mother's side of the family again. When I saw you talking in that clip, I saw sandy haired Great Aunt K as she was when she was about your age. Where you tow headed when you were small? My mom was, and she also had light brown hair as an adult.

  6. Kicking of my shoes is always a great thing to do. I don't wear shoes as much as possible.

    1. Isn't it a treat to kick off the shoes and rest those feet! No one has a lawn anymore-except for the across the street neighbor - or I would be running my toes through the lawn. I wonder if she would mind if I trotted over there and ran my feet through her nice sweet grass lawn?
I hate to have to shoes, ever. But of course, needs must. Have a good week full of kicking off the shoes!
