Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Shake It Off (2014)
Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here.
1) This song makes Crazy Sam want to dance. What song inspires you to get on your feet?
"Born in the USA"
2) Paul McCartney met Taylor Swift at the SNL 40 Anniversary special and told her he really enjoys playing and singing this song. What's the last song you sang along with?
"Blackbird" by Paul McCartney.
3) The lyrics tell us Swift "shakes off" nasty gossip and unfair criticism. What about you? Do you worry about what others think of you?
I don't worry. My motto was and is, "Be Kind". So, I just try to keep it real, as in "what you see is who I am". I made friends easily enough and good ones. I didn't have to deal with someone else's interpersonal problems or have them "scape-goating" me. Life is just too short. Mean people suck. If you hurt my kid, you got the door.
4) Her parents are big music fans, and were going to name their baby (boy or girl) "Taylor" after their favorite artist, James Taylor. Can you think of a singer that your mom and/or dad really enjoyed? At one time, my mother loved to sing. She really loved to sing along with the Andrews Sisters. Mom had a sweet voice and could also whistle the sweetest tunes.
5) She grew up on an 11-acre Christmas tree farm. Do you get a fresh tree every year, or do you have an artificial tree, or do you not put up a tree at all?
Artificial for us. We used to have live trees back in the day... This is the first year I will feel like decorating again, so we will go whole hog, trees, swags and garlands. All.
6) Taylor Swift is 5'10". According to the CDC, the average American woman is 5'4" while men are, on average, 5'9". Are you taller or shorter than average?
I used to be 5'6" Now I'm a lot shorter. Losing height wasn't any fun, and has caused a lot of pain but my back is what it is. Also, it doesn't bother my knitting. Only my sitting at a sewing machine and sewing.
7) She enjoys good, old fashioned mysteries, especially those by Agatha Christie. Are you currently reading a book for pleasure?
I just finished a book called, The Morrow Boys by Lynne Olson. It was fun and very, very exciting to read. Well, it was sad as well.
8) Her brother Austin is a freelance photographer who took the official pictures for her 2008 concert tour. Who took the last photo of you?
I did.. I needed to see what my new shorter hair looked like.
9) Random question: What's your go-to comfy outfit?
I love to wear my gray sweats and a big ol' T shirt from our travels... And go barefooted in every season except for the cold one. We don't really get a winter here. The cold one is from about Christmastime to March something ...

It never occurred to me that my new shorter status might be the reason why my back hurts. Dumb me!
ReplyDeleteNo, not dumb. You are never going to be dumb. lol
DeleteI took notice because me back was already broken at age 26. It started collapsing right after being sent to an idiot of a chiropractor who put his knee on my back and pulled my shoulders back suddenly. Bang! Earlier, this dolt of a guy stood out in the hall and talked loudly about all the money he was making to one of his trainees. He basically broke my back again. Broken backs aren't always apparent. Have yours checked?
I tend to stay barefoot (or in flip flops) until the first snowfall...then its fuzzy socks and slippers. Happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteThanks and I hope your Saturday has been lovely.
DeleteBarefoot is my favorite season. I remember the thrill of running my feet in the grass the first day of summer vacation when mother traditionally let us go shoeless.
My family was not a musical family, none of us played any instruments but my brother married in a musical family.
ReplyDeleteNot to worry. Listeners are terribly important!
DeleteAnd, you enjoy music; without you and all people like you, where oh where would the guitarists, pianists, and other players be?
Enjoy that glorious New England Fall!
I can't imagine not having a cold season. Virginia has quite the range of seasons, from 100 degree hot to 0 degrees cold.
ReplyDeleteVirginia has fairly mild winters, like Ohio, where I spend a long time as a baby and toddler. Snow was fun if you are a kid or retired. ;o) I can't imagine having to drive around in it. That has to be trying.
DeleteWe have to talk family trees sometime.
I wish I lived where there wasn't much cold in the winter--winter lasts forever here.
ReplyDeleteOh my. I bet you are very glad when Spring and Summer and Fall roll around. Your winters are so bitterly cold. Brrr! When I'm back to knitting here, I will think all good and warming thoughts for you. In every stitch, a little sunshine.
DeleteI love big sweatshirts too.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about people hurting my kid. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

Oh ya. Big T's and Sweatshirts and so lovely.
DeleteAnd about the Kids: it's the hardest thing to forgive for me, it's well nigh impossible.
And Thanks for the good wishes, Lori! I hope you have a lovely weekend, too.
I haven't gotten shorter yet, but I'm sure it's coming. I have back pain and am diagnosed with degenerative disc disease. I can hardly wait for the shrinking. At least you don't see dowager humps these days. I would not want to have to deal with that.
ReplyDeleteYou are very creative so I'm betting your Christmas will be beautiful and I'm glad you are feeling up to celebrating again. I hope you will share photos!
Oh no, Stacy. ((Big Gentle Hugs)))
DeleteHopefully, since they have seen it, they'll start supplemental therapy, if that can be effective.
There are lots better calcium and magnesium supplements now, but my tiny mother in law had a dowager's hump. She was from a different era... She was almost 101 when she died, within days, actually.
About Christmas, I'll try to get photos from this year. There are some from other years so if things overtake my life, I can post those. Happy Day off, when ever it rolls around!
