Birthday- Saturday 9

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every
Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme.

BIRTHDAY (2014)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) In this song, Katy Perry sings that she wants to give her lover something good to celebrate every day. What is making you happy this fine Saturday?  ummm  I am going to start finishing a sweater that has taken 10 years, so far, to get finished.

2) The video is all about baking a birthday cake. When did you most recently enjoy something home baked? Were you the baker?  I was the baker.  And it was probably the Christmas before last.

3) Tell us a memory from one of your birthdays.  My hubby and kids gifted me an antique crank sewing machine.

4) This week's song shares nothing but the title with a Beatles song. (Here's a video of Paul McCartney performing it live.) Can you think of another title that's been used by more than one song?  Not at the moment.

5) Similarly, this week's featured artist was born Kathryn Hudson and called Katy Hudson until she changed her name to Katy Perry to avoid confusion with the actress Kate Hudson. Have you ever met anyone else with your same name?  Never have met them but they are out there.

6) Katy and actor Orlando Bloom became parents to a baby girl in 2020. Bloom is best known for his work in the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Are you a fan of either of those film series?  I  am a fan of both of these series.

7) In 2014, the year this song was popular, Prince William toured the United States and attended his first NBA game (Nets vs. Cavaliers). What's the most recent sporting event that you watched?  Basketball.  It's my favorite to watch and to play.

8) Also in 2014, Joan Rivers died. While best-known for making us laugh, she was a very successful entrepreneur, selling jewelry on QVC. Have you ever ordered anything from TV?
No.  I did win a KPBS Auction for piano lessons once.  The teacher was so much fun.

9) Random question -- Have you ever been told you talk too much?  Moi!?  lol No.. I am super quiet until it gets jokie and a little louder. and then I do join in a bit.

Thanks so much sam, for doing this fun meme every week.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

  1. How cool that you won a public television auction! When I was a little girl, I used to try to get my parents to bid (usually on a horse or horseback riding lessons). So winning one of those auctions always seemed to me like the end of the rainbow.

    1. Yes! Exactly like that! You also wanted a horse? I think it's sad that neither of us ever got to have one. I even built a corral! That still didn't move my parents. We had a huge property on the bend of a little river, and perfect for a horse. alas... Now, the horses run free in that river valley which is part of the old Garvey Ranch. That Ranch House is now a State monument or something.

    1. It is knitting. I'll show you the pattern and what I've finished so far. For the LIFE of me I cannot figure out how to knit back and forth, in pattern, on the flat parts of the knitting. i.e. the non circular needle parts.

    1. I've knit it up to the split in In-the-round knitting, and most of the both sleeves. I've been struggling to understand how to knit the dang FLAT parts. It may be the death of me. I'll feature what is already done in an upcoming post...

    1. It worked, and still does. I like sewing on it. I’d always wanted one, now I have two!
My maternal grandmother has one that my mom and sisters turned the crank on for during the Depression. They all tent camped while my grandpa followed his mechanics work. Grandma earned various barter goods by sewing clothes for her kids and doing mending and alterations for others. Grandpa was a mechanic for heavy equipment. Gee.. you got some family history..sorry..
