First blooms for the new Beaver Tails.

DH kindly took pictures of the Beavertail and the other flowering cactus, perhaps and Echinocereus. Sadly, I am not allowed to knit or do anything without my splint til June 5th, when the next ex-ray may free me.

I'm sending healing vibes to a very brave race horse at this time, too. Barbaro, I love you!!!!! PS: The ex-rays of his pinned leg are just horrible.  Posted by Picasa

  1. Oh I know! I cringe when I see them. Poor guy, all he wanted to do is run and enjoy his youth. Now he can look forward to an easy life and fillies! Not to bad, I guess.

What is it about race horses? They appear so gallant and so beautiful. A horse maybe, but they bring out the hero worship in me. Those powerful animals running on their little-bittty ankle bones.

I think of Secretariat, Seatle Slew, Seabiscuit and the tragic Alydar. (I think there should be a spot in Hell for the trainer, btw)
    And now Barbaro.

Sending healing vibes to him too. I hear he has a great attitude...and is trying to bite people. Good for him!

Thanks for the link alex, as you can see I am a fan of horses....and racing to a certain extent.

  2. Thank you so much for that site, Alex. I really appreciate being able to follow Barbaro's progress. That is an amazing place.

Meribeth, They have an ankle that is not much bigger than a human's I'm told, and look at the weight it must support, even with the two extra legs. They are the most beautiful animals to me. The horse I'll never forget is Ruffian. She was gorgeous and a tragic end came for her.

Trish, I'll never get that horse ranch in Montana but I still would like another life of owning and breeding little Morgans, Special Paints, and Quarterhorses. heehee.. No cactus in AZ? ROTFLOL! I love the cactus people, too. Maybe a horse ranch in Arizona makes more sense?

  4. Oh my gosh, Ruffian! Every time I see that footage it just breaks my heart and cry and cry. She was a magnificent filly. Such a loss.

  5. Terri, she was indeed one of the most beautiful horses ever. I wish they didn't show that footage anymore if they are still doing so. It would be different if she hadn't gone through all she went through and then had to be destroyed anyway. Ruffian will always have a special place in my heart.
