Red TrekkingXXL Hiking Socks Finished

At Last! These socks take an age to knit. Just the kitchnering left on the toes and then off to the hempathy finger finishing. Then on to Gretchen and the Drops Aran for DH.

One thing I've discovered, is that I just don't do more than one knitting WIP at a time very well. So, I will not start anymore socks or gloves until Gretchen is finished, though I'll do the Drops Aran for variety. I'd like to get it finished before this summer. If this coming summer is anything like the last, I just will not be knitting.

  1. Beautiful! I just bought that pattern. What was it about those particular socks that were so difficult? I have never knit socks before. A class is about to start at my LYS for knitting socks with circulars. We are to show up with our own pattern and fiber. Do you have any pattern advise for me? Something easy to get me started?

  2. Thanks for the compliment, Laurie. And Yay! Another sock knitter!

The red socks from the regia booklet are now easy to knit, since I've made them about 5 times. Originally, the way the heel turn is written, it took me an age to figure it out. It wasn't straight forward -to my mind anyway- like the pattern on Socks101. Also, with this pair, the problem is the size. They are men's boot socks and take forever to finish because they are so tall-13 inches tall - otherwise they are pretty mindless knitting.

About recommendations for easy socks for circulars. I've never knit on two circs but did try magic loop. So, that being the case, I've only heard about patterns that are easy to knit re: two circs. One of them is here:

It's knit on two circs, toe up and knit two at the same time. Go to the bottom of the page for the PDF file to download. Good luck in your class. It sounds like fun! :-) I'll watch your blog for.. further developments. :)

  4. Hi Sarah-Hope. That is such a beautiful cloth, and fits under the frosted green vase in a perfect color combo that it's found it's forever home here. :-)

Thanks about the socks, too. BTW, that trekking color is still available. ;-) *tempts Sarah-Hope to go off any yarn diet she may have set*
