A little bed time story.
Once upon a time there were two, very silvery blue water towers. Then came a freeway and the water towers were doomed. They were absolutely headed for the scrap pile. Ah, but the water district had a "Brilliant Idea!" They would build a monster water tank that would serve for both the condemned ones, and make it look like a Mushroom. But alas, they didn't want to paint the thing every five years, because it was ENORMOUS and would take so long to paint it, that the blue paint would wear out on one side, the sun side, before they were finished painting the other side.
So, the water district decided to paint "Shroomie" with a 70 year rust colored paint, completely forgetting that this thing, this Horror (!!) was in someone's backyard now because of the new freeway easement that happily went rolling through what used to be a fairly quiet neighborhood. Umbrage was taken at this Effrontery. The peasants gathered up their torches and pitchforks. This could not be stood! The citizens demanded relief!
The compromise, if it could be called that, because the water tower cost several Billion- just kidding- and it was in place and working, was ART! Forgetting that it had been blue at one time, the district sought to quell the public outcry with some little cloud sculptures, set in a fetching ring around the largest part of their Huge Mushroom. What they now had was a UFO, complete with an earthly disguise. It's even got several communication antenna in the back( presumably so it can call it's mother ship)which are cleverly disguised as cell phone communications equipment. The End. Now it's time to sleep.
oh, this is funny! I loved viewing your animal videos in the past posts! I like your new little virtual pet Beebo! cute!
ReplyDeleteHey there PJ, thanks for visiting, and thanks for feeding and playing ball with Beebo. He loves his biscuits and blue ball!
ReplyDeleteEvery time we see that water tower, I think how much like a space ship it is. lol. It's one of the fun things about town. I'm tracking down some other "landmarks". Though this isn't really a very whimsical town there are some things here that deserve a look. Double take?
