A couple of careful, tiring days later....

What a job. You have to be so careful cleaning up lye. The residue is all gone and the shelf back together. Happily it didn't drip or run far enough to damage much more than a stack of colored tissue papers. Now to get everything back on the shelf in apple pie order. As you can tell, these shelves are well used to things dripping down them. They came from a company that was closing down a repair business. Strong and made to take it. Ugly as heck, too, in the bargain. Someday maybe I'll spray paint them purple.

Picasa has not been uploading pictures all day. I've hired the Mod Squad, on their little Vespas, to run it down in the road.

  2. hehe, Picasa has it coming.

And yes, that's what the lye was for, AR. The rest of the stuff is in the garage but I put that stuff there to keep an eye on it. Well, let's just say, things get invisible after they hide on a shelf for a couple of years. It will never, ever happen again. We use lye to cure olives from time to time, too. But we'll just buy "as needed" from now on.
