Blogs of note are usually not as interesting as this one This week's theme at this collective collage Blog is on Birds. This blog is so quirky and funny that a link to it is going down under the Fun Stuff collection in the Side Bar. It's called Scrapiteria and is terrific.
Birds in the yard. Well let me tell you that the California Towhee thought that his rival for female affection resided just inside the window at our house. Last week we came home from an outing and I settled in my chair to knit. A smallish thumping sound kept coming from the studio side of the big room. I would look and finding nothing but the bird sitting on the fence, so back to the knitting I'd go. It kept up for about another 15 minutes but got louder and louder.
Finally, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the source. There was the Towhee, plunging into the window and making a thwacking sound with his feet on the glass. The noise he was making was because, with each attack, his aim was improving for maximum impact, I suppose. Well, anyway, that had to stop or he would kill himself. We finally lowered the bamboo blinds on the outside of the windows in order to get him to leave his OWN reflection alone. We knew that when he knocked himself senseless he would stop but by then he would be brain damaged or caught by one of the many neighborhood cats. Yesterday morning I saw him sitting on the back of one of the patio chairs, eyeballing the back slider. He must have gotten the right idea this time, because of some reflection inside, that what he was seeing was not worth his bother.
Knitting news is that THERE BE GUSSETS! Pictures follow in a new post (edit:when I take them) and DH downloads them off the camera in the elaborate system only he understands. For the rest of it, the Aran Sweater is getting full attention today while I knit during rest periods. Yes, we are shoving more of the furniture around again today. Wheew!
So, I'm off to take those knitting pictures because the current DH Report is that there weren't any pictures on the camera. Duh, the camera is empty. What was I thinking? Was I thinking? It must have been in a dream that the little photo shoot took place. This time shift has really done me in this year. I can't seem to adjust to it. Time for some "Jolt Cola".
If you see too many commas, or even too few commas and many run on sentences, that's normal and all is well. When you see jammed together sentences that is blogger saving space. And my use of "You" for "Your" is normal brain function for this old crone. No Worries! If you see my knitting, that's not normal. That means something is wrong.
Funny post! I've been away from reading my fav blogs, so it's good to catch up! I miss those CA Towhees...that blog with the collage and birds is a hoot ;) I noticed my bloglines updated with your new posting..just to let you know!
ReplyDeleteCalifornia birds are pretty bold, PJ, 'tis true. I think it's because they are forced to live around humans and their cats and dogs, so the bolder the better in self defense. Jays, hummingbirds and mockingbirds are all such dare devils. Towhees love to flick that tail and scold, too. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of cute, Bloglines won the first round. I've solved it, but not before burning to another service and backtracking to a new Blogline account. It's sort of bad to get a flat tire on the internet superhighway.
