Mother Poko Ono Regards her Offspring
For Baby Luann and other little fans of the Tortoise Family. Poko is getting ready to go into hibernation, we couldn't find the new tortoise's half brother Lucky. He is deep within his hole and won't come out unless and until it warms up enough to do so, and Pappa Churchie is under the deck, which is his favorite hidey hole. He is ready to hibernate too, but we will pull them all in and put them in a place that will not be too cold if the weather turns down sharply to deep frosts like the last two years. Churchie is about 62 years old, so he needs to be protected. This isn't the desert where they can dig down to a place that gives them an even 55 degrees.
Baby Luann, the baby tortoises are eating something called Kale, now, as well as grass. They will stay awake (not be let hibernate) for about four years. I hope you like the pictures. Hug your Mom and Dad for me, ok, sweetie?
Everyone, have a lovely rest of the weekend. I know that these times are tumultuous. We can make it through this...Love you!

Thank you for sharing the tortoises. They are such beauties and such living embodiments of hope.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah-Hope for your comment. And you are more than welcome. They are amazing perfect replicas of their parents. They are different only in size. Well, maybe they turn themselves over more often. lol. We check them once an hour to see if they've tumbled upside down. Yes, they are, as you so eloquently put it, "living embodiments of hope." Thanks for that. :o)
