I'm getting unhelpful and vindictive comments so I've changed the blog to accept no more Anonymous comments. I'm taking this step because of a January 5th post comment that was a last straw. That's it. There will be no more anonymous comments; I don't even want to see them, frankly.
It's easy to be able to comment using Open ID.
That is too bad that you don't like hearing the truth?
ReplyDeleteSorry that you have had to forego anon. comments. Sometimes getting shit is the price to pay for putting one's views out there.
ReplyDeleteI am not anonymous, though, and I agree with just about all you say and with your right to say it! (Which is even more important.)
Actually, I don't mind hearing the truth. Like any outsider in this, not being an Iranian who was born there, most of what I hear, even from yourself, I put up against what I do know from scholars and from people whose analysis I trust, not from comments on my blog. They could be coming from anywhere.
ReplyDeleteWith all that my own government is doing, in their unusually anal way, I have my doubts about a lot of things, believe me.
I'm sorry that you've been getting nasty comments - that's the unpleasant side of free speech.
ReplyDeleteDon't let it put you off:)
Indeed, Fuzzarelly, that's what it seems, and if I hadn't worked nearly my whole life for the cause of Peace and Reconciliation, I would just keep ALL my opinions to myself and save myself the trouble.
ReplyDeleteAlso, as you say, supporting the right to freedom of speech is infinitely the most important aspect in this equation. In a world of opinions and ideas - most especially ideas because from them we can go forward into seeing something in the light of truth, freedom of speech is paramount.
Nearly everyone agrees that truth is the best way to move forward toward a better world. Finding it, though, can be a mine-field, especially with all the emotions that we also carry around with us.
dumazzlibs, you can email me. At this point, for all I know, you are sitting in a US government office in Washington DC or Texas.
Magnusmom, thanks. I'm going to go on saying things that I feel need to be said.
ReplyDeleteFor instance, the government is now moving Leonard Peltier, and I'm concerned. Not that it has anything to do with my blog but where are they going to move him? Is he ill? He is innocent of the charges but sometimes we have a ship of fools running this country. I used to have this huge respect for the FBI, now I just think of them as like any other group - full of egos and angst.
