Hi, Dar, and thanks for asking. I am getting better as my edibles come together and my diet stops making me sick.
And to answer your question about where I was in the late 60's, I was right here where the Sea meets the shore.
DH and the kids and I would walk to the beach from where we lived it was so close, and we could walk out to the end of our back yard and put our toes into the bay. We loved it. We went fishing in the surf, and took the kiddies to the beach a lot in those days. It was a calm, peaceful life, lived beneath the roar and in the shadow of the tragedy of the Vietnam war. That war that was swallowing our generation whole and many, many of our friends. I couldn't take anymore of that war and needed the Peace of the Ocean, and being of the bent of mind that I was, I thought it a HUGE waste of hopes, love and lives.
Happily, we were able to carve out a niche away from further loss and grief. You probably know about that stuff, if you lived through the late 60's, fully feathered and aware of what the jerks in power had conjured out of thin air, eh?
Ah, socks, there used to be an excellent sock tutorial up, but it's been pulled, and there is still an excellent one at the KR on knitting a sock. I think that you have no problem with learning the straightforward DPN way, if you can settle down and not let all the ends bother you as much. I forgot whether you were knitting on DPN or not. But, anyway, try the tutorial at Knitter's review, and lean as heavily as you need to on GFTC who knows a literal TON of things about socks, and also ask away in the sock forum. There are sock fans, including me, who will answer any question, day or night that you may have. Socks are just brilliant fun to knit. They aren't hard once you can handle the needles, and know how they are made to bend around the foot.
Where were you in the late 60"s?
ReplyDeleteHope you are well & I still can't knit a sock..
