This is a YouTube video of Monty Roberts taking a horse who was hard to load into a trailer and training him in just a few minutes to go into the trailer, eventually without a lead. Brilliant technique! So gentle!
I've adored this fellow and his gentle training techniques since reading his first book in 96. His wish to leave this world a better place, for horses and for humans, just as he says on his web page HERE will come to pass. I think he's a Hero For the Planet, myself.
I think my cousin had him at her stables for instruction once.
ReplyDeleteMonty Roberts does get around the country, Rho, so it could very well be. He is such a nice fella. Someday, I'd love to meet him in person. Also, if I get another chance to go through the Santa Ynez Valley I'll show you what our best horse country looks like. That is, if I can get up there before houses cover up every square foot of it. Such great pasture lands up there! Limestone in the mix.
ReplyDeleteSolvang is there, too. That's where our family first learned to love Danish aebleskivers and frikadeller. Yum! Dh bought me the cook book! In those days that was the favorite souvenir.
