Shade Patio Progress

I'm still trying to bring order out of chaos in the Shade Patio. Fall and Winter are the seasons to plant and such here in SoCal, so we are going to be putting in Cactus in the front raised bed, some of the babies I've been growning are not old enough. Also buddleia and more Jade on the hill. It gets a natural green cover in winter and the little seeds it produces are good for the wild birds. Right now there are White Crown Sparrows migrating through and they are feasting on the seeds of those little winter weeds. Their song is such a pretty little song, it's a joy to hear them in the mornings and afternoons, singing from the Cape Honeysuckle.

These three pictures pan across the Shade Patio. I've been saving water from the sink and tub in buckets so that the plants get watered even if we miss an assigned day.

  1. You raise plants like I raise bunnies! Both a lot of work.

  2. We used to raise bunnies but for 4H shows, so I know what you mean about that being a lot of work.
Nowadays, I am happy to just do the plants. lol

  4. Thank you for your lovely comment, Lisa and Robb. The shade patio got just a little bit overladen with small potted starts and monster bromeliads but the machete has helped to clear the jungle, so to speak. hehe.
