Wolfie Barked!

He's got a loud bark, too!  He might be nearsighted though!  He barked at DH when DH stopped at the mailbox.  lol.. We are so happy now that means whatever was wrong is now over.

I was going to tell you this (below) in another post:

We reckon that he had a heck of a time for those first five years. But someone loved him in the past, somewhere.

He can't bark because of some sort of injury.  He just has a tiny growl and a tiny whine which he uses in a friendly way, to communicate his wants. He tries to bark at times but it's like a hoarse semi cough.

DH is now calling him our little Miracle Dog because he has lifted our sadness and gloom, and for the fact that Wolfie survived all that he has and did it with a sweet and calm demeanor.

Wolfie is pretty well bonded now, and goes to the front door when he wants to go out and water the trees.  We think he's enjoying this new life.

Well, the Bark is Back.  Fabulous!

  2. Hi Rho! I think you are right. He's becoming more confident and feeling more secure in leaps and bounds. And, he is nearsighted or something. We could get him little goggles to wear lol

He is really coming alive now, learning his back yard, and where the other dogs are. He and a little Pomeranian in the next yard may become fast friends.

  3. So happy to read that you have a new fur-person to share your life. It may be that the love and security you give overcame a traumatic injury. Even fur-persons get psychosomatic illnesses!

  4. Thank you Pogonip, and yes, little furperson's suffer so much sometimes.

Wolfie has some healed broken bones, a rib and two places in his tail. He was in such poor condition and was 3 pounds underweight when he came into the shelter. We are betting that he really did have some traumas. When he sleeps in our laps(yes, he's made himself a lap dog) we wish him sweet dreams.

  7. Thank you so much, Fuzzarelly.

Wolfie has turned things around for us here. I was just so sad I couldn't get over it. No amount of "smile darn ya smile" therapy was working it's usual magic.

Well, now I can have happy memories of our very special little fella, who lives in my heart, and give a good home to another little dog. It's scary that we might have missed him. Angels must really guide us sometimes.
