The bowl on the left is what will become some interesting odd ball socks, like some in the Thrifty's at Ravelry. These will be sort of like Astrid's Minestroni socks , or The Sock Lady Spins , but surely not as beautiful being as I have ZERO patience for something that complicated. Scroll down for the delicious socks at the Sock Lady site.
I'm planning on using the pink/rose colored yarn for the base color, and knitting in bands of color in the leg and maybe the foot. The bed is now covered with sock yarns but I did find what I wanted, almost.

The Trekking XXL is what will be the first pair of socks. I need socks badly enough to start these in the summer but the library to which Sis and I are going has Air Conditioning!
Sorry for the grainy picture, I'm in sort of a hurry before I lose my mojo again, and fiddling around with pictures of would-be sock yarns is not conducive to keeping it. I wish the other women in the world had such small concerns. I really do. Women and their children should have a peaceful planet. Ya know? I will be gracious and include all Peaceful humans, even those caught up in forces that they couldn't even DREAM they would be caught up in. All of you.
I really love making odd ball socks, using up my leftovers. Sock Lady Spins calls hers Monster Socks, and are quite impressive.
ReplyDelete(Her blog is in my sidebar.)
i've recently (last month!) knit socks with the same colorway of the Trekking, and the same colorway of the Kroy--
ReplyDeleteboth stripe up very pretty.. (send me a PM if you want some pattern details.. i don't have the pattern 100%--but i do have an out line!
(both socks are in my projects on ravelry.)
Oh my! That is something! I just grabbed those two out of my big bag of sock yarn, when I finally found it!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Helen, I didn't see your tutorial but you can bet I'm going to use it, as this tender mojo of mine needs all the help it can get! I'm going to knit a full pair of socks with the pink and then use the left overs for the Monsters.
And Fuzzarelly, those socks are so fabulous looking. I was floored when I went to the first gal's web page off Ravelry, and then found her link to the Sock Lady Spins.
I could have saved myself some time if I'd only read people's side bars! Sheesh.. I'm a slacker, that's for sure.
Actually upon looking at your tutorial, I did read it. It's wonderful!
ReplyDeletefantastic idea for using such great yarn! Can't wait to see them! ..so right regarding our 'problems'...some women are searching for clean water every day!
ReplyDeletePJ, thanks for your comments, and yes, some women, from Asia to the Middle East, spend an enormous amount of time, daily, just trying to get enough water for their families.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about the Monster style socks. Should by very fun. I won't post pictures until the legs are done, and then when the toes get closed. Unless, that is, there is DRAMA! hehe
