i live in a hi-rise apartment building, about 1/4 of a mile away from LIE (I-495)--sometimes its noisy, (and always its a bit dirty) but I love watching the traffic flow by. anytime of the day or night, there are always cars and trucks and motercycles and all kinds of vehicles going by. Somebody is always going someplace. Like an endless river, the traffic is always flowing.
Great word picture. And yes, the traffic never stops flowing, even at 4 am.
Ah, the traffic in a big city. It is always most fascinating for me at night, to see the flow of the lights going by on the lanes. When I was a kid we lived just outside Los Angeles and the big freeways were being built right and left. My high school was right next to the San Gabriel freeway. Our art class would go up on one of the overpass bridges to sketch. Great perspective from up there. The air was already so bad that we hardly noticed any additional gunk in our lungs.
Once when DH and I visited Yosemite in April, the spring run off was tumbling HUGE boulders down the Merced River. I looked at DH and said, "This sounds just like a Freeway!" It really did sound like some freeways through L.A. hehe
