Little buds on a cactus arm just getting ready to burst open with a blaze of glorious luminescent petals, one by one as they mature.

A close up of the same tree and it's lovely blossoms. These trees are planted all over the city and are harbingers of Spring. I am ecstatic when I start to see the trees blooming.
We also have Tulip trees, Coral Trees, and Ornamental plum trees here, and they are all blooming. I'll try to get some tulip trees which I've never shown you, and some of the dark rosy pink flowers on the Ornamental Plums. The rain and wind probably knocked them all off, but I will try.
NYC has lots of tulip trees (there is an alley of them leading up to the admidmin building of the botanical gardens.
ReplyDeleteacross the road at the Bronx Zoo, the cable car sky ride passes over an other group--come spring (still weeks away here) you can ride over the crowns of the trees and look down on the blossom covered trees--a real treat!
Hi there! Tulip trees are so beautiful. I'm sort of dreamy eyed thinking about all those blossom covered trees in one place that you have in your city.
ReplyDeleteI see Tulip trees here and there around town - Balboa Park, also at a little park behind Mission Alcala, as well as on some streets in Spring Valley.
One of the problems we have with trees out here in the western cities is the root systems. They need bigger spaces than most places can provide. I wish there were more public plantings as they have the space for tree roots.
