The Moral Underground: How Ordinary Americans Subvert an Unfair Economy by Lisa Dodson

This is an Article from Yes! Magazine.

In case you were thinking of fighting back against what you know to be wrong and indecent in an economy that is failing families.

Even if you are a member of the "sort of" privileged class who still works, happily for a decent living, amongst the rest of the middle managers....

This one's for you.

Today I went for an MRI on a fossilized knee. Over time, it's started really getting expensive to treat, so I'm thinking of going for the wooden leg, pirate look.

One eye is calling out for an eye patch half the day anyway, so all I really need now is a Tricorne hat, a fast Brigantine, and a saucy parrot, who can swear in four languages, up there on my shoulder.

Oh, and I'll be needing a motley crew full of scurvy dogs and hooligans. Wanna go sailing? Harrr!

  1. yep...the working poor. the ones working really hard... I sure wouldn't accuse those bosses of stealing doing that for their employees. I think what is stealing is not being able to live on a million dollar salary (corporate ceo's)

    ARGgg, Captain!

  2. Indeed PJ, and they also want to get out of their "tax shelters" off shore and "repatriate" thetax dollars they moved there to avoid paying taxes on in the recent past. Bank of America being one who did this, as well as Qualcomm and Microsoft - according to an article I just read about this in the local rag - and they want the US to do this for a 5% tax rate rather than 35%.

Woe is me, they is po' folks, indeed and SO need this second break. We are talking about billions of dollars here, that they didn't fail, I'm sure to use overseas to fiddle with.

This whole charade was done four years ago to "stimulate the economy" but it didn't work out that way. The Big money boys just used the readies given to pay out as dividends to their billionaire stock holders.

What part of our outrage do they not get?
