I spent the last couple of days thinking about Life, and taking pictures of all the best flowers that are around here, so far. If you can't take a "time out", and just let the shredded little neurons repair themselves, you will die sooner rather than later. So, I took up my knitting, some on straights that belonged to a friend who passed away two years or so ago. And that got me to thinking of all the friends that DH and I have said our final goodbyes to. Dozens have "moved on" it seems like, and several of them younger than we are.
Life is this beautiful and fragile thing that is sometimes joyful and sometimes very hard. When life is hard, you can feel yourself steeling your resolve. This is something good, to have some steely resolve to call upon. When life is good, you can feel yourself flowing out to meet it with all this love and joy in your heart. Steel makes guitar strings stand up to being stretched and stressed; lo and behold, if it's the proper distance and the tension is just right, beautiful sounds result. So, tune yourselves and make beautiful the music of your lives.
We have gotten a lot behind on the weeds, as you see in the photos. Since we don't use herbicides, like Round up, we must pull them all up by hand. We are going for a mountain of compost this year! The tall winter wild oats, as well as other tall grasses, like tall Fescue, have gotten completely away. We will have the better of them both in a few weeks. The little birds love it because it gives them lots of cover, but it also takes a lot of water for it to stay green. This isn't Connecticut, sadly. I could go for Seattle even. Yes, Seattle. That would be very good indeed!
Here's all the roses I've found while out and about, and in the back yard, too. Enjoy the tour!
