Our pretty, little, climbing mountain.... And a Penguin baby. so cute!

Cowles Mountain is all decked out in Spring.  This is a view of the summit, from the base. But this view is of the back side of the mountain. There are two trails up. Wolfie's little legs can carry him enthusiastically up the steps and cuts of this side, but he and DH have to come down the road because the Wolfmiester falls on his flat little face trying to come down the tall steps and cuts. He's a good mountaineer otherwise!

The birds adore this place.  While I was there I saw California Quail - a covey of which flew right over the top of the Jeep- House Finch, Goldfinch, a Warbler singing on top of a Lemonade berry bush , ( a California Native plant) and I just could not positively identify this bird!   It was either a Nashville or a Wilson's male, from the song. There were also Scrub Jays, Mockingbirds, and Bush Tits.   I read the latest Ladies #1 Detective Agency book and listened, listened, listened for bird song.  Great Afternoon!

This same mountain is the one in the sunset photo taken a few months back.  I hope I stitched it together right.  hehe

Pina sent this, just now!  Penguins come from eggs, are birds of course, and it is, after all, Easter Tomorrow!

So incredibly cute!

Happy Easter tomorrow!
